Movie Review-Happy Bhag Jaayegi

I left home with no plans for a movie, but by the end of the evening I was not ready to come back without watching a movie. The next available show was for Happy Bhag Jaayegi and that is how I ended up watching it. My verdict? Definitely a one time watch.

I give you 3 reasons to watch it- Abhay Deol, Abhay Deol and Abhay Deol. He is adorable and sincere in his act of Bilal Ahmed (a.k.a. Janaab Junior) a wannabe cricketer whose dreams for a career in the game are overriden by his father’s high aspirations of him changing the history of Pakistan. In his attempt to get Happy back home to India from Lahore, he goes through a palette of emotions which he does total justice to.

As for the other main cast of the film Jimmy Shergill does more or less revisit his Tanu Weds Manu act. “Card bhi bat chuke hai”, rings a bell and thus brings hardly anything new. And as for our Happy in my personal opinion, no doubt Diana Penty is pretty with that infectious smile of hers and all but she is far from convincing in her role as a Punjabi Patakha. Another character who needs special mention is Momal Sheikh, the beautiful fiancee of Deol’s character. She has a screen presence and role parallel to if not better than Diana.

All in all, this cross border romance has its moments with a talented supporting cast including Piyush Mishra.
