Two Recent Movies which made me Google Back
The recent months were full of amazing movies which made me google back to the incidents. Being a 90’s child, I did not have much idea about these as either I was not born when the press coverage of these happened or was at an age when I used to think why do the adults always want to watch NEWS Channels and was probably the first one to leave the room whenever the news channel was tuned in to.
Nevertheless, the following two movies did a great job in not only making us visit these incidents in the past but also in making us live the events.
1. Airlift
Airlift is certainly on the top of my list of the best Bollywood movie in the last one year or so. Power packed performance by Akshay Kumar, the movie made us live the ordeals of the Indians held in Kuwait during the Iraq invasion. Had the film not been made, I don’t know when I would have got the chance to learn about this incident as well as the exceptional feat achieved by Air India which carried the highest civilian evacuation in history. The movie gave me a chance to go back and look into the events which occured in 1990.
2.Neerja
Following Airlift is the Sonam Kapoor starrer, Neerja, the story of the girl who gave up her life just days before her 23rd birthday to save the life of hostages on board the Pan Am Flight 73 from Mumbai to US while it was hijacked in Pakistan. Owing to the film, popular culture was filled with the name of this daughter of India. Everyone including the kids in our household, now know that there was this young, brave girl who gave her life in the name of humanity and became an inspiration for many.
