My first Interaction with chatGPT
It has been flashing on my news feed at times but I had not really got down to know what all the hullabaloo was all about. Last night a conversation with one of my friends shifted to this newest sensation to hit the world. It was what piqued my interest.
I sat down with my research trying to process the information from the last four months or so about chatGPT. I could see that it has been creating waves, some positive and some negative. It is met with lots of hype as well as mistrust just like any other revolutionary technology that has preceded it.
Among the things which in particular caught my attention was how chatGPT has led to the publishing of 100s of books on Amazon, listing it as author/co-author and also writing essays for kid’s homework and being considered for writing Hollywood scripts.
I rolled up my sleeves and sat down to sort this out directly with the smartest bot on the planet. The engineer in me curious but the writer in me a lot indignant got straight away to the point.
Is ChatGPT going to take over writing Jobs?
Well that sorted out I really wanted to see for myself the writing prowess of chatGPT. I had a new blog post almost ready for publishing and prompted the bot to write an article on the same for me. It was an opportunity for me to compare thoughts on the same topic between the human mind and AI. Here are the snippets from the same.
The fact that I chose it to discuss with the most intelligent bot in the world itself will convince you about the importance of maid in a woman’s life. (wink wink)
My reaction to my first interaction with chatGPT?
The mere fact that this chatbot can pen down all these in less than a minute impressed the hell out of me. The language is very very relatable and the humour spot on.
Though my opinion goes that it lacks of a human touch but I will leave it to you guys to decide after you have read my version of the same here. Do let me know in the comments what you think about the two of them.
What is ChatGPT?
For the unversed, chatGPT is an AI chatbot developed by OpenAI. It is available on their website. You need to login to be able to use it. It has been banned in a few places so you need to check that before trying to log in. Don’t go by any misinformation about privacy or limitations that you have been reading on the web. The opening page inside chatGPT gives you a clear idea of what to expect and what are the limitations. The developers also have stated not to share any sensitive information as content might be monitored,
It has been in talks since its launch and much has been discussed on its pros and cons. I feel that the gain or loss from any technology depends on the hands yielding it. ChatGPT has got potential to be a great help in day to day life when used wisely.
As for my earlier concerns, there is still time to be sure of how much help it is going to be for writers, especially for someone like me. Once an idea takes seed in my head, I generally avoid reading or listening to any outside content related to it lest it should dilute the originality and flow of my writing. Of course there are certain topics for which facts and additional reading is required which will get simplified with the help of this tool. Spending more time with any technology is bound to open newer avenues for its use.
Do share your experiences with the bot in comments below.
To begin with, I’ve never had a maid, so I can’t comment on that part. But it was fascinating to compare your article with that of ChatGPT. Both were great articles, but I’m guessing ChatGPT never had a maid either – while your article showed your obvious experience. AI is here to stay, and now we learn how to best use it. Thanks for a great article!
Interesting summary of chatgpt. There certainly is a lot of talk all over the internet and TV alike. I find it interesting certain countries are banning it – but, think it can be another great tool in a writer’s toolbox.
I’ve not played around with chatgpt but your post has made me curious! I am shocked because what it wrote was quite good. I see why it would be tempting to use it for blogging!
Yes even my initial response was disbelief. I could see what so much hype was about. I guess with time AI tools are gonna be helpful for writers.
