The Revolutionary Kurti
There is nothing as versatile as the Kurti… Right? This younger sister of the traditional salwar kameez is certainly a revolution in the fashion circuit. It has changed the very definition of ethnic wear. There are numerous ways to go ahead with your kurti. It is wonderful to know the variation you can achieve with this single piece of clothing and come up with something new every time.
Be it a traditional anarkali or the sensational flared ones, there is a kurti for every occasion. Team it with a pair of jeans or churidaar or leggings or a patiyala, every variation is a new look in itself.
If it is a simple coffee date with your guy, you can go for the short kurtis paired up with jeans and match it up with your favourite danglers or just slip on some colourful bangles. It completes a cool, chic look. Or if it is a more intimate dinner date, don on a gorgeous kurti with a flared hemline or asymmetrical hemline. Infact trail cut kurtis with skin tight leggings also give a very feminine and classy look.
For weddings and other traditional functions, we know that anarkali is the choice. And it comes in all ranges be it a lightly embroidered cotton anarkalis for a day time function to the heavily embroidered georgette or chhiffon ones with all the fancy glitter and laces and net. Some of them are too heavy that you just don’t need any other accessory with them. Just a long, shiny, visible dangler will do. In anarkalis, you also have the option of floor length ones which look just like an evening gown but with the touch of tradition.
Kurtis are the top most choice even among the majority of the office going women. It makes you feel comfortable and of course you just don’t have to be conscious about your dress getting stuck to you tummy and revealing the belly fat :-p Long, straight kurtis or angrakha kurtis teamed up with leggings or churidaar makes the perfect office wear. You can carry a dupatta or matching stole to complete the look.
So girls just keep on adding to your collection of kurtis and be ready for any occasion. Go or the brightly coloured, printed ones with big floral prints or even blocks or polka dots or go for the ones with small prints. Go for the plain ones or go for the heavily embroidered ones. Just keep on exploring what you can do with this ethnic wear of ours. 🙂
